About Me: Deniz Coker, Founder of Coker Carpentry

My story is unique! I've been woodworking ever since I was a kid. I got my start doing scenic carpentry, building sets for theater, TV, and film. I studied design at Parsons and film at NYU, and later got into designing museum exhibits and theme park attractions. After that, I moved into media and marketing out in Los Angeles, working alongside some great teams at places like Disney and Fox.

My creative background is built around one simple idea: a well-built space can tell a story.

My wife and I were homesick for the mountains, so we moved back east and settled down in Roanoke. I learned to frame and finish houses, then started Coker Carpentry. I enjoy working with clients on home restoration and repair, whether it's a 1930s craftsman bungalow or 1990s colonial home. But above all else, I love making houses feel more like home.
