What's the difference between mitered and plinth-block casing?
Mitered casing has clean 45-degree corners for a simpler look as opposed to craftsman where the casing legs run into the header; plinth blocks add a small footed detail at the base and are a wonderful way to transition from baseboard to casing.
Do you replace casing around new windows after a remodel?
Yes — I regularly install casing after window replacements or additions, matched to the rest of your home. This can also include jambs, aprons, and stools.
